Adventure Rhodesian Ridgebacks

We like to travel with the Ridgebacks to various parts of the country. We've visited friends and attended dog shows in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, Oregon and up and down California. Thought this might be a good page to put photos of the various parks and friends homes/dogs, etc. One of our trips was to the Post Ranch Inn (without dogs) in Big Sur, CA January 30 through February 2, 2007. Other photos show our trips to Yosemite (w/o dogs), Bend Oregon, and various areas in Oregon. We like to take "day trips" to visit the state we now live in.
Oregon While on a trip (10-05-09) to Crater Lake we stopped at one of the many beautiful parks off Hwy. 62 to see the Rogue River. There are many different parks and locations to stop and view the Rogue River. Photos do not do the River justice. It is absolutely breathtaking at just about every place we stopped. Beckie's Restaurant, Union Creek - a cute place that serves wonderful food. Located about 30 minutes before Crater Lake. They also have great homemade pies - nice selection. We had lunch on our way up to Crater Lake and on our way back stopped for pie! Photos of Crater Lake taken 10-05-09 with the little island. They had an early snow fall the weekend before and there was snow in various places. Most of it had melted by the day we arrived. Just different views of Crater Lake. You can see a bit more snow in this photo. Took a day trip to Bandon, Oregon on August 12, 2009 w/o dogs. These are some of the rocks along the Bandon beach. Doesn't this one look like a "monster" coming up out of the ocean? This is the "monster" photo up close ; ) This is called "Face Rock" - you can see the profile in this and the distant photo. The "Face Rock" from a distance. This is what I call the "seal" rock; but guess it would be a dog? The Bandon beach with surf and lots of driftwood. Bandon is a quaint town with shops and restaurants. It also has a great art gallery - well worth the trip to Bandon just to view the various pieces of art. This guy just stayed right on his post watching everything, never even moved when I came close. This is the small lighthouse in Bandon located right off an inlet. A little bit closer look and you can see someone at the top of the lighthouse. Crater Lake - this photo taken August 2008. See the Crater Lake Hotel and Restaurant at the top right. November 2006 - another trip to Oregon. This is the Rogue River just west of the little town of Merlin - the town we eventually moved to in December 2007. This map is at the Indian Mary Park. Indian Mary Park Just 10 miles west of Hwy. 5 (at exit 61) there is a beautiful county park. The park has Campsites for RV's (w/hook-ups), tents and Yurts. All next to the Rogue River - also has a boat ramp. What a beautiful park, has RV hookups, rest rooms, showers, etc. Plus the Rogue River for boating & fishing. The Rogue Valley Kennel Club (RVKC) used to hold their AKC Dog Shows at this park in May, but now the shows are combined with the Umpqua Kennel Club and they are held in November in Roseburg. November 2006 View of Table Rock Mountain from Hwy. 5 July 2006 at an RV Resort in Bend, Oregon "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" - this time to visit friends and see the sights in Oregon - didn't attend a single dog show - probably a first for us! We stayed 4 nights at a wonderful RV park in Bend. Clean, spacious, grass and pine trees. Very quiet too. These photos of the dogs on the grass were all taken in Bend. She did this while visiting with friends and their RRs in Sunny Valley, Oregon And the other dogs wanted to join her! The Nudo's dog Kenya has Hunter on the ground. We stayed in the house on the very left , the north coast house On our drive up Highway 1 between Ragged Point and Big Sur , we came across these two Condors (with numbers and transmitters) that seem to be visiting with anyone that stopped. They didn't seem to be afraid of anyone. It was such a treat to see these very special birds. They seem to like hanging out with everyone. This looks like a cute photo, but these two photos also show what could happen to wildlife when you leave trash along the roadside. See how he/she got his head in the thong? Yes, it came out easy this time and he/she walked away. Then someone came over to take it & a plastic bottle away so the Condors couldn't "play" with them again.

Another view of the Ahwahnee Another view os the Ahwahnee Hotel. As you can see we visited the hotel in the fall. Love those autumn colors, but the "falls" were lacking in water. Yosemite was beautiful and we had a wonderful time seeing the sights. Lots of water features even in the autumn. Spring would have been the best time to view Yosemite Falls. I believe this is Half Dome, photo was taken from a distance - never got close to it.
